The brief came from a returning client who commissioned us to design their new home in the heart of Milan. Located at the top of a building attributed to BBPR, this penthouse enjoys stunning views of the Alps and its architectural surroundings, including the iconic Torre Rasini by Gio Ponti and the historic Caselli of Porta Venezia.
The scope was crystal clear: the home had to embody a true “Milanese experience,” distinctly different from the client’s previous homes. It was a quintessential Milanese design challenge. Our client, a renowned collector of contemporary women’s art, required a space that could host her extensive collection as well as support the rhythms of family life.
We began with in-depth research into what defines a contemporary Milanese interior—an exploration that proved both multifaceted and inspiring.
Our ambition was to create a space that feels timeless yet current: deeply informed by research, guided by the client’s identity, and rooted in the architectural and cultural language of Milan.
The construction phase presented significant complexity. Working within a dense urban environment, we undertook extensive demolitions and encountered several unexpected conditions as the original structure was revealed. The interior layout was entirely reimagined; all mechanical and electrical systems were redesigned, and new glazing was introduced throughout. This included the installation of large, floor-to-ceiling glass panels for the veranda, maximizing light and views while enhancing the spatial experience.
